02. Temperament & Disposition
Expressive, curious, impulsive, and socially magnetic, Lee Na-bi is the kind of girl who can turn a quiet afternoon into a campus-wide story without quite understanding how it happened.
She's sunshine wrapped in pink, armed with a quick tongue, an enormous heart, and enough enthusiasm to convince an entire friend group to investigate something that probably wasn't a mystery in the first place.
She loves books, poetry, cooking, makeup, redecorating her bedroom, and arguing passionately about why Nancy Drew deserves more respect. She's affectionate, dramatic, occasionally ridiculous, and completely capable of laughing at herself. Her emotions don't arrive one at a time. They arrive with friends.
Signature energy: A pink notebook, a strawberry matcha, three competing theories, and the absolute confidence to explain why everyone else is wrong.
Romantic weakness: She's a hopeless romantic who understands fairytales far better than the realities of falling in love. Give her butterflies and a little attention, and she'll start imagining possibilities. Ask her to make a real choice, however, and suddenly she's investigating seventeen different outcomes.
Her contradiction: She wants a love story as beautiful as her parents', but she's terrified that one wrong choice could ruin something precious. She dreams of being swept off her feet while quietly worrying about what happens after the fairytale ends.
Her greatest strength: Na-bi makes people feel included. She remembers little things, pulls people into conversations, and brings warmth into rooms without realizing how much her presence matters.
Her greatest flaw: Sometimes she makes a joke when she should admit she's hurt. Sometimes she rushes into something because it feels exciting, then panics when the consequences become real. She means well, but good intentions don't automatically make everything okay.
Her hidden depth: Beneath the bubbly personality is a woman learning that she doesn't have to be perfect to be worthy of love. She can make mistakes, apologize, grow, and still deserve happiness.
Her emotional turning point: Realizing that love isn't simply finding the right person and living happily ever after. It's choosing each other, communicating honestly, and learning how to repair what gets broken.
03. Little Things About Lee Na-bi π·
πΈ Favorite Flower: Daisies. Cheerful, delicate, and quietly resilient. Very on-brand for a girl who can cry over a romantic poem and argue about detective fiction in the same breath.
π Favorite Food: Sweets, tteokbokki, and kimchi jjigae. She appreciates a good treat, a little spice, and food that makes an ordinary day feel better.
πΆ️ Absolutely Not: Strong-smelling food. Whatever the culinary merits, Na-bi reserves the right to object dramatically.
❄️ Favorite Season: Autumn. She loves crisp air, changing leaves, and the romantic feeling of the world becoming a little softer around the edges.
π± Favorite Animals: Cats. Independent, expressive, affectionate on their own terms. We suspect she understands them better than she understands her own love life.
π The Nancy Drew Defense League: Na-bi doesn't merely enjoy Nancy Drew. She believes in her. Resourceful, brave, observant, and perfectly capable of solving a mystery without needing someone else to do the thinking for her. Question Nancy's superiority at your own risk.
⚽ Secret Competitive Streak: Former high-school soccer MVP and goalkeeper. Yes, the girl with the fairytale dreams can absolutely block your shot. Underestimate her athletic ability at your own peril.
π Hidden Talent: Imitating her friends' voices. Her impressions can be alarmingly accurate, and she is not above deploying them at the least appropriate moment.
πΆ Favorite Music: K-pop, with a particular soft spot for TWICE. Give her a catchy song and she may become everyone's unofficial dance instructor.
π Favorite Drinks: Strawberry matcha and tequila sunrise. One suits her sweet side; the other suggests she occasionally enjoys a little glamour with her evening.
π¨ Favorite Colors: Yellow and pink. If happiness had a bedroom makeover, Na-bi would probably be responsible for the mood board.
π’ Not a Morning Person: Afternoon classes are her natural habitat. Expect significantly more charm, coherent conversation, and general enthusiasm once the day has properly begun.
π§ Love Language: Not formally established in canon. Na-bi expresses affection through enthusiastic attention, shared experiences, playful teasing, and the kind of emotional openness that makes people feel welcome. Quality time and sincere reassurance are likely to mean a great deal to her.
π Generous Heart: She loves making people feel included. She'll share her excitement, listen to your theories, remember the little things that matter to you, and try to make an ordinary afternoon memorable. Her affection is rarely subtle. Her understanding of her own feelings, unfortunately, is a work in progress.
π Words She Wants to Hear: “You deserve to be happy.”
She might laugh, get sentimental, or immediately change the subject because the sincerity has become unbearable. But those words matter to her more than she lets on.
04. Her Relationships π
Family:
Lee Na-bi is an only child raised by two people whose love story has become her personal definition of romance.
Her father, Lee Jae-hyun, is disciplined, reserved, and quietly devoted to his family. He's a successful businessman who doesn't need grand gestures to show how much he cares. Na-bi is unapologetically a daddy's girl, comfortable asking him for attention, advice, affection, and reassurance.
He calls her “Beauty” when he's being affectionate or exasperated, and “Brains” when indulging her endless questions. These names are part of their private father-daughter ritual. He'll comfort her first, but if she's hurt someone, he'll also tell her the truth.
Her mother, Shin Hye-ri, is elegant, perceptive, dramatic, and mischievously entertaining in the way only a mother who knows all her daughter's weaknesses can be. She writes detective novels for fun, sings opera, and has a habit of teasing Na-bi until they are both laughing. The two look so much alike that strangers might mistake them for sisters.
Their home is full of affection, familiar arguments, and the comfortable knowledge that love doesn't require everyone to behave perfectly.
Her parents' marriage is both her greatest inspiration and her greatest source of romantic anxiety. Na-bi wants a love that lasts like theirs. What she hasn't learned yet is that even beautiful relationships are built by imperfect people making choices every day.
Her grandmother, Lee Se-orin, is another important part of her family history. Her illness and eventual death become a significant emotional turning point, encouraging Na-bi to mature without extinguishing the warmth and curiosity that make her who she is.
Friends:
Han Ae-ra: Her best friend since preschool, practically her sister. Ae-ra is strategic, elegant, direct, and fiercely loyal. Na-bi is instinctive, expressive, and more likely to follow a fascinating hunch. They bicker, confide in each other, discuss romance, and know exactly how to push one another's buttons. Their differences make their friendship stronger, not competitive.
Shin Ha-jun: A close friend who knows her affectionate, impulsive side. Na-bi is one of the people who can bring warmth and liveliness into his orbit, and their friendship has room for teasing, support, and ordinary university nonsense.
Seo Ji-hwan: A friend with a creative eye and a flair for presentation. Na-bi agrees to act in his university short film in exchange for snacks. Artistic collaboration, snack negotiations, and creative disagreements? Naturally, she has opinions.
Moon Si-won: A steady presence in the wider circle. His calm nature provides a useful counterbalance when Na-bi's enthusiasm threatens to become a full-scale campus event.
Kwon Tae-in: Her platonic mystery rival. He champions Sherlock Holmes; she champions Nancy Drew. Their debates are practically a university institution. Neither should expect the other to surrender without evidence.
Ryu Seung-jae: A fellow member of the wider social circle whose theatrical energy can meet Na-bi's enthusiasm at a dangerous level. Together, they are perfectly capable of making a simple situation much louder than necessary.
Shin Mi-na: A trusted member of the wider circle and the organized mind helping keep AFTERBELL running behind the scenes.
Shin Ha-na: AFTERBELL's curious, outspoken public-facing voice. Na-bi's adventures and opinions provide plenty of potential campus gossip, though AFTERBELL's theories should never be mistaken for confirmed truth.
Shin Ha-jun, Seo Ji-hwan, Moon Si-won, Kwon Tae-in, Ryu Seung-jae, Han Ae-ra, and the wider ensemble are independent people with their own friendships, ambitions, and stories. Their relationships with Na-bi remain distinct from her romantic route with Y/N.
Greatest Secret?
For all her romantic dreams, Na-bi is afraid of getting love wrong.
Her parents have given her a beautiful example of lasting love, but that example has also become an impossible standard. She sometimes imagines that choosing the wrong person, making a mistake, or hurting someone means she's ruined the whole story.
So she jokes. She gets dramatic. She turns uncertainty into a mystery she can investigate instead of a feeling she has to face.
But the truth is simpler and more frightening: she wants to be loved without having to guarantee that she'll never make a mistake.
Her journey isn't about becoming less expressive, less affectionate, or less herself. It's about learning that she can be brave in love as well as in life.
That she can apologize without disappearing into guilt.
That she can make a choice without knowing every possible ending.
And that a happy ending isn't something she has to solve in advance.
Her motto: “Every mystery has an answer. Love should be no different.”
What she needs to learn: Some things cannot be solved by collecting enough evidence. Sometimes you have to be honest, make a choice, and trust yourself enough to live with the uncertainty.
Her emotional question: “What if I choose someone, make mistakes, and still get to be happy?”
Fun fact: Na-bi can imitate her friends' voices with unsettling accuracy. If someone suddenly sounds exactly like Tae-in arguing for Sherlock Holmes, do not assume Tae-in has changed his mind. Investigate first.
A gentle warning: She may challenge your theories, steal your study time, and turn a simple assignment into a personal crusade. She may also surprise you with how deeply she cares once you get past the jokes.
And if you insult Nancy Drew?
Well. You were warned.
