[30 Days] What you wore today, in great detail [10/30]

I wore my favorite dress today for my meeting. Whenever I wear it, I feel beautiful and sexy. I feel confident and it shows.

It was a gift from my little sister who liked to thrift clothes. It's a black floral wrap dress from H&M that showed off my best assets. I loved it so much that I wore it to Cebu last year on a family vacation! It's a versatile piece that I will keep wearing. As a wrap dress, it's so easy to wear because I can put it on in 5 seconds. It's also in a neutral color so it can be matched with black and brown accessories.

My personal style can be described as easy, comfortable and elegant. I like wearing classic, timeless pieces that can be dressed up and down depending on the occasion like dresses, jeans and shirts with interesting cuts or fabrics. My favorite colors are black, brown, navy blue, gray, blush pink, maroon, and emerald green.

Since I focus more on easy and comfortable, I tend to wear dresses 85% of the time with a jacket and ballet flats.I don't like wearing jeans and sneakers unless I really have to. I also use jackets a lot because I tend to get cold easily.

My favorite accessories include my tan bag or black backpack, a watch and a nice pair of earrings. I don't wear real jewelry yet but I'm planning to get a few pieces someday. For now, I'm wearing my mother's gold earrings everyday.

My tendency to prioritize comfort and ease also slips into my makeup and skin care routine. For my skin care routine, I only use a facial wash, toner, moisturizer and sunscreen. For my makeup, I only wear red lipstick like Maybelline Stay Matte Lipstick in Ruler. I don't really want to spend an entire hour in putting on makeup when I can spend it on sleep.

I started to practice minimalism seriously in 2017. That was the time that I was consciously trying to stop myself from developing a serious shopping habit that was going to bring me deeper into credit card debt.

To my delight, I also discovered the minimalism movement when I stumbled upon Caroline Rector's Unfancy blog and Ariana's Paris to go websiteIt was like a breath of fresh air in a world full of online shopping, sales and Instagram shops.

The idea was to slowly but surely create a lifestyle that was simple, easy and uncluttered. It's a vast and interesting philosophy that encompasses all aspects of life including relationships, work, hobbies and finances.

But I started on my own closet first with a shopping embargo for a month and a massive campaign to declutter at home. I got rid with a lot of stuff by selling, giving away and donating. It felt so good to know that I've removed all of the unnecessary possessions in my cramped life.

This is our closet at home. My boyfriend and I share the same closet so this is everything that we own.

I was striving to have at least a workable number of clothes, shoes, accessories and other miscellaneous things. It should also fit into my very small suitcase and backpack.

In my closet at home, I only have 30 shirts, 8 dresses, 5 jeans, 5 skirts, 6 pairs of shoes, and four bags. It doesn't include my pambahay (lounge wear), lingerie, swimwear and accessories like scarves, fake jewelry and 1 red beanie.

I love these straw bags that my sister found in thrift stores. I also share the shelf of shoes with my boyfriend.

To be honest, I don't go shopping anymore. I don't have to. My sister, Clang, willingly buys my clothes and other fashion things in thrift shops in her new country. She's got really good taste and she does it because it makes her happy. In another life, she'll make a fantastic personal shopper.

Of course, I'm not perfect because I still have plans to update or upgrade my wardrobe in the middle of the year. Let's just say that it's my annual treat to myself because I'm planning to save up so I can buy new pieces to freshen up my look like a white shirt, a new pair of sandals and probably a new dress. Hopefully, I've lost some weight by that time so I can fit into clothes better.

When I started practicing minimalism, I started to have more money in my pocket that I spent on experiences like travel, treating my family to dinners and experiences. (But it really went to food, LOL!) I'll talk about my experience with minimalism in the future.

For now, I have to go and do a small load of laundry. I'm looking forward to spending less than an hour in sorting, folding and putting away of our clothes at home. It means I have time to cook chicken curry and enjoy a glass of wine in the balcony in my favorite dress.

I think that's the best way to spend an evening at home.
